If you're asking people to write for your project, what are you hiding from them? If they write for you, are they going to be surprised, angry, or disappointed that you're using their material when you reveal the title?

Remember that titles cannot be copyrighted. So if you're protecting your title because you don't want someone else to use the same title, you can only protect it until you reveal it. Then it's up for grabs anyway.

I hope that helps. I am presently following your 3 Article process for creating a compilation and stepping out in faith. I do have a question....when sending out the "Guideline for Writers" do I have to include the title? I would rather keep the title confidential and have them focus more on the context. I will be clearly defining the topic and theme for each section, and the purpose of the book.
These are my thoughts and I would really appreciate your expert opinion. Her bio says she has "considerable experience in civil litigation, contract law..." and more. I found her via my state's "Attorneys for the Arts." Many states have attorneys who volunteer to help people in the Arts who often don't make much money and are taken advantage of. When I needed help getting paid, this is where I turned. If your state has such a group, this might be a good place to start your search -- not because they volunteer but because they are willing to represent artists, such as writers, so it's a good bet they know that area of law. You might look for someone with expertise in copyright law. Here is one such organization in Colorado: https://cbca.org/colorado-attorneys-for-the-arts/ Here is another: Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts: https://vlany.org/ I used to be able to find a list of states with such organizations but I'm not finding it right now. Search your own state and see what you can find. I hope you find just what you need. Good luck with your compilation. And thanks for the great question! Where did my answer go?! I think you could go either way, but if you're going to go to all the work to set up and promote an event, why not put out more than one book? I think one from each group is a great idea. And while you display those, you could have others in each group on hand in case anyone was interested in seeing more. You might need to talk to the bookstore owner about how many they want you to offer. Some stores put the book in their inventory so their clerks can just scan and sell them, and that's a lot of work so you probably don't want to ask them to do all 20. Each store knows what works best for them and their clientele Or maybe they'd want to have you back next month for another set of books. Offer ideas, but be flexible and cheerful no matter what they want. Good luck to you. Let us know how it goes! That's a very good question. This ...Hi Felicia! That's a very good question. This is just my opinion, but I think I would introduce a book from each group. If I understand correctly, that would just be three books. I don't think that would be too distracting with too many products. You could also create a half-sheet flyer or bookmark (if it's big enough) that lists all of your books. Hand these out to everyone who will take one, those that buy a book and those who don't. Put a good link on it - your web site or your Amazon page or wherever they can easily see all your books with a link to buy. That way they have something to take home that they might use for a later purchase. Depending on where you're going to be, perhaps you can have copies of all the books available (but not displayed) so if someone really wants another book you have it, but your display isn't too overwhelming with products. This might not work if you're in a bookstore and need to have the bookstore owner or employees check in all your books. But if you're at an event like a table where you can do whatever you want, that might be smart. I hope that helps and that you have a successful event! Let us know how it goes.

Blessings!
Dianne Diannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16939401031066142421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2458681133174803865.post-80133648485855439422019-03-03T16:44:51.409-07:002019-03-03T16:44:51.409-07:00Hello Diane!
